PTA Plastics Celebrating 60th Anniversary
Oxford, CT and Longmont, CO (PRWEB) July 30, 2014 -- PTA Plastics – a nationally recognized leader in custom injection molding solutions – is celebrating its 60th year in business.
PTA Plastics, an Employee Owned Company, began in Connecticut as Plastic Tooling Aids Laboratory Incorporated. As the company has grown into a national leader in product design and production, PTA Plastic’s entrepreneurial spirit continues to move the company forward. Over the last six decades, the company has grown to two facilities – in Oxford, Conn. and Longmont, Colorado – with 200 employee owners specializing in engineering, molding, quality control administration, sales and tooling.
“We have been fortunate to have talented and dedicated people over the years who have lead PTA Plastics to this milestone and will continue to lead the company going forward,” PTA Plastics president, Ray Seeley said. “We are incredibly grateful to our employees, customers and suppliers who have given us reason to celebrate this momentous occasion.”
PTA Plastics offers a full suite of engineering, molding, tooling and added-value services for defense, medical, safety & security and technology applications, and has played a key role in the manufacturing of thousands of products used worldwide.
In its early years, PTA Plastics built models of parts that were produced in plastic using injection molding. As the company progressed, its portfolio included everything from the Princess telephone to the first Xerox copier to working with Steve Jobs on Apple Inc.'s first Macintosh computer.
By the 1960s, the company boasted an impressive client base that included the likes of Bell, Black & Decker, GE, Hamilton Beach and Schick.
Other memorable milestones include purchasing one of the largest molding machines (at that time) in the country to produce products like Polaroid cameras, plastic stocks and digital phone switch systems; working with start-ups like Apple, Compaq, Dell, Gateway, HP and Teletype; developing a part for Boeing; and, producing parts for the Coke Freestyle machine, a beverage dispenser that features over 100 different flavor combinations of Coca Cola products.
Today, PTA Plastics is shaping the future of mold making and production molding with its work with three of the leading eye surgery equipment providers – Abbot Medical Optics, Alcon Surgical and Bausch and Lomb.
The company is proud of its long-standing history of success and credits its accomplishments in part to a keen understanding of each customer’s individual needs, and its ability to effectively meet those needs through its experienced, skilled and dedicated team.
Throughout it all, PTA Plastics has maintained a culture of integrity, fairness and passion that has been its foundation for success and unmatched client service since its inception. So much so, that in 2012, Seeley sold 100% of his PTA stock back to the company. He set up an ESOP Trust for the benefit of PTA employees, allowing them to take true ownership of their positions within the company. For Seeley and PTA Plastics, the decision to set up an ESOP trust was the solution that supported the greatest good and sustained corporate continuity and the tradition of excellence that started back when PTA’s first employee – Seeley’s father Ray, Sr. – joined the company in 1954.
For 60 years, PTA Plastics has exceeded expectations with its drive to be at the leading edge of the prototype process and its endless quest for innovation.
