Examples of projects that might require public involvement are complex road projects, large underground utility projects, or siting of a new landfill. In each case the lead agency (Florida Department of Transportation, Solid Waste Authority, Cities, or Counties) may be required to include public involvement as a critical part of the project to inform the public well in advance, to work in a collaborative manner to answer questions, and to resolve issues before any work begins.
Public Involvement is often a requirement for transportation engineers, road and highway construction contractors when performing jobs for Departments of Transportation, and City and County agencies.
