Purple Deck is Uniquely Positioned to Take Full Advantage of Apple’s NFC Announcement
SCOTLAND, PA (PRWEB) June 08, 2017 -- Purple Deck Media, Inc., is excited to announce that TapLive™, its Near Field Communication (NFC) solution for small to enterprise-level businesses, is now compatible with Apple products starting with iPhone 7 and newer. The development follows Apple’s announcement on Monday at their World Wide Developers Conference that its iOS 11 will support the reading of NFC tags, as Android devices already have.
Purple Deck is uniquely positioned to expand in this developing market space, which has already taken off in European and Asian markets, because of the pending intellectual property it has regarding cloud-controlled NFC technology.
“With TapLive, NFC tags become dynamic,” said James Sulfare, CEO of Purple Deck. “The tags are coded, locked and security protected, and the content that they deliver is entirely cloud controlled so it can be managed from an easy-to-use dashboard. For consumers, this creates a seamless, interactive experience where they can access information by simply tapping their device to a tag. This encourages customer engagement within a store while giving managers valuable insight by collecting a host of data and analytics.”
A 2014 report estimated that the U.S. market for proximity marketing, which includes advertising, shopper marketing, and m-Commerce opportunities, to reach $37.6 billion by 2016. However, the market has fallen far short of this goal because Apple had previously only enabled NFC technology on its devices in the limited form of Apple Pay, the company’s own payment system.
According to the Apple Developer website, their CORE NFC will “enable your app to detect NFC tags, visit certificates, identifiers, and profiles.” The site also said: “For example, your app might give users information about products they find in a store or exhibits they visit in a museum.”
“This development will definitely generate increased interest and adoption of NFC technologies now that one of the most widely used platforms in the U.S. is involved,” said Nathan Neil, COO of Purple Deck. Apple’s announcement is what the developers, consumers and partners already working in the NFC space have been waiting for.”
Many companies had set out to stake their fortune in NFC when the semi-conductors were initially added to smart devices several years ago, but when Apple restricted its NFC capabilities to ApplePay – effectively cutting the U.S. NFC market in half – many of those companies failed while waiting to see what Apple would do.
Purple Deck, with its proprietary cloud-controlled NFC solution, is prepared to take full advantage of the opportunities that will be created following Apple’s announcement.
In May, without any assurance that Apple would enable NFC tag functionality, Purple Deck undertook what is believed to be the largest roll-out of NFC technology in a retail setting in the U.S. by installing interactive NFC tags to the shelves of a pharmacy. The company is also developing new tools to help printing companies transition to – and get the maximum benefit from – NFC tags.
