Push to Walk Receives Morris County Grant
Riverdale, NJ (PRWEB) April 15, 2014 -- March 2014, Push to Walk was notified that their request for funding from the Advisory Council of Aging, Disabilities and Veterans was granted. The non-profit submitted a request under the Grant-In-Aid category, which is county funding for areas of mental health, substance abuse, aging, veterans, disabilities, youth services, and general human services. Push to Walk provides individualized workouts and resources to people with spinal cord injuries and other forms of paralysis to optimize current quality of life and prepare for future medical advancements. The grant, in the amount of $17,280, will provide 236 hours of service at Push to Walk to a total of six clients who are Morris County residents.
The Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders, in conjunction with the Morris County Department of Human Services, is responsible for the allocation of Grant-In-Aid funding with the goal of ensuring the provision of comprehensive services to residents of Morris County. The funding recommendations are based on identified priorities established in the Morris County Human Services planning documents, program review, quarterly reports and ongoing requests for services.
With client fees covering only 75% of operating expenses, Push to Walk relies on outside funding to make up the difference. “This is the first government grant we have received since opening (January 2007), and I’m excited that it is Morris County that has chosen Push to Walk as a grantee for 2014,” explains Cynthia Templeton, Push to Walk Founder.
