Put Yourself in the Picture with Britannica at ISTE; Attendees Will Step into ImageQuest™ Photos, Travel in Time and Space, Vie for Prizes
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) June 25, 2015 -- Educators attending the ISTE technology conference next week can travel through time and space without ever leaving the Philadelphia meeting hall, when they stop by the Britannica® Digital Learning exhibit at Booth 2351.
There, Britannica representatives will demonstrate the company’s award-winning digital resource Britannica ImageQuest™ by embedding pictures of conferees into some of ImageQuest’s nearly three-million photos. Booth visitors will pose for a quick photo of themselves in front of Britannica’s green-screen backdrop, and—voilà!—their image will be dropped miraculously into a photo of their choice. They can stand atop the Great Wall of China, return to the Old West, or get up close and personal with a slab of copper as it reacts with nitric acid, all without stepping into an airplane, a time machine or a laboratory. Photos will be e-mailed to them instantly so they can share the evidence of their “adventures” with colleagues, friends and family.
As much fun as the exercise will be, it will have a serious pedagogical purpose: to show the value of relevant, high-quality, rights-cleared images for lesson plans, student reports, projects, school websites, and flyers, according to Michael Ross, general manager of Britannica Digital Learning and a senior vice president at Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc.
“We’ve heard from educators who tell us they can’t live without ImageQuest, and now that its contents can be accessed directly from our flagship resource Britannica School it’s even more valuable,” said Ross. “We want everybody to see it, and at ISTE we’re going to do it by literally putting people right in the picture.”
Britannica will also hold an online contest in which participants will vie for prizes by posting their pictures on Twitter or Instagram. Prizes will include Kindle Fire HD tablets and “britannica ♥ teachers” coffee mugs. Details are available on the Britannica website.
