QHR Client Hospital Ranked Seventh for Safety in the Nation by Consumer Reports
Brentwood, Tenn. (PRWEB) January 29, 2015 -- QHR client hospital Cary Medical Center (Caribou, ME) was ranked seventh in Consumer Reports' "The Surprising Way to Stay Safe in the Hospital." Consumer Report compared 2,591 Prospective Payment System (PPS) hospitals using publicly reported data on patient safety, patient satisfaction, infection control and readmission rates.
32 hospitals received a safety score higher than 60 (on a scale of 1 to 100).
"We work hard to achieve these results because it is just the right thing to do for our patients and their families," said Kris Doody, CEO of Cary Medical Center. "It is a credit to our entire Cary family that we have become one of the nation's leading rural hospitals."
"A long-standing commitment to patient experience and outcomes can be credited for this notable recognition," said QHR President and CEO Mickey Bilbrey. "We are proud to see a QHR client hospital named to a report consumers rely on to help choose the right hospital."
According to Consumer Reports, patients' perception of their care in the hospital and the safety of the hospital are two categories scored in its hospital ratings. An analysis of Consumer Reports' data found that higher patient-experience scores are linked to higher hospital-safety scores and vice versa.
The article will be in the February 2015 issue of Consumer Reports magazine for patient safety and respect. For more information about how Consumer Reports rates hospitals, please visit http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/2012/10/how-we-rate-hospitals/index.htm.
