Quadrant2Design makes a donation to Marie Curie
Poole, Dorset (PRWEB UK) 27 January 2016 -- Founded in 1948, Marie Curie has been providing care and support to those suffering terminal illnesses for over 60 years.
Bearing the name of the pioneering Polish scientist, the first female Nobel Prize winner, and the leading researcher into radioactivity, Marie Skłodowska Curie, the Marie Curie Hospital was founded in London in 1929, for “the radiological treatment of women suffering from cancer and allied diseases”.
After the hospital was destroyed during the Second World War, five members of the hospital re-build committee set about setting up a charitable medical organisation, still bearing the name of Marie Curie, but separate from the National Health Service, and as such the Marie Curie Memorial Foundation was established.
Providing hospices and at-home support, Marie Curie offer free nursing care to people with all terminal illnesses, across the UK, as well as support and advice for friends and family. This help and support can come in the form of overnight help and support, allowing family members to have a restful night knowing their loved ones are being well looked after, day-assistance and company, complementary therapies, and full-time end of life care.
Marie Curie is reliant upon donations In order to keep providing their invaluable services, and are dependent on the wide range of local fundraising groups that are based around the country.
Recently, Poole-based exhibition stand contractor, Quadrant2Design teamed up with their local Marie Curie Fundraising group and donated five portable banners to the team. With in-house designers, the Marie Curie group were able to see their ideas come to life, and the five banners, as created by Quadrant2Design, are being used for an array of activities that will be helping to raise both funds and awareness across Dorset, including a sponsored fire-walk, as well as tea afternoons, runs, and sponsored swims.
