The injectable is made from Deoxycholic Acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body. When injected into tissues, Kybella destroys the outer membranes of fat cells, allowing them to dissolve organically. The body then absorbs and metabolizes the unwanted cells.
Each Kybella treatment consists of up to 50 individual injections. Depending on the severity of submental fatty tissue, between two and six sessions are required for optimal results. Since fat cells do not regrow, once they have been eliminated, patients can see permanent results.
