Quirky Side of Nature Exposed in ‘Rita and Rascal’
Lamar, CO (PRWEB) January 22, 2014 -- Written from personal experience, “Rita and Rascal” (published by Trafford Publishing), the newest juvenile nonfiction book from author Autum Augusta, shows readers how a traditionally wild animal can become a beloved household pet.
When Rascal, a newborn raccoon, showed up in Augusta’s home, the author decided to journal his journey from untamed animal to domestic pet.
Rascal grew from a baby raccoon to a 25-pound raccoon before he was returned to the wild. “Rita and Rascal” gives readers a glimpse into Rascal’s quirky, often hilarious, antics.
An excerpt from “Rita and Rascal”:
“Rascal felt heavy on Rita’s lap with his head hanging off one side and tail off the other. Rita moved because her leg was going to sleep. At the same time, Ronny looked at Rascal and made a terrible, loud noise. The noise scared Rascal and he wet all over Rita. She could feel the hot liquid running down her legs. ‘What did you do that for?’ Rita asked. The whole family was laughing too hard to talk. Rita had to run to the bathroom and take a bath and poor Rascal ran and hid under the bed.”
