R&B Star Johnny Gill Reveals His Upcoming ‘Game Changer’ Tour & How His Album Will Help People Conceive Twins on Black Hollywood Live “Next”
Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) January 20, 2015 -- R&B singer Johnny Gill sat down for an interview on Black Hollywood Live’s top-rated show “Next” to reveal his upcoming ‘Game Changer’ tour and more.
Gill is kicking off his ‘Game Changer’ Tour on February 8, 2015 in Atlanta, GA at the Fabulous Fox Theater. R&B legends El DeBarge & Eric Benet will also be gracing the stage. “It’s a full set. I haven’t done this in years. It’s a show!” More dates are in the works.
Gill has had multiple number one albums, and he feels that his latest album 'Game Changer' is his best yet. "‘Game Changer’ today will be my 'Thriller' album," Gill said, referring to Michael Jackson's 1982 chart-topping album.
Known for his soulful, baby-making music, Gill’s latest album might help when it comes to conceiving a child. “I got a few songs on there, if you want a boy or a girl,” he said. “If you want twins, you want that song called ‘What Is This.’ It’s like an old Al Green throwback joint.”
Gill credits a lot of his success back to his father, who was a preacher in Washington D.C., and to his family’s gospel group called ‘Wings Of Faith.’ “We used to have meetings outside the church before we would go inside the church, like ‘Ok, guess how many people we’re going to make shout.’ Little did I know, being able to do that, pushing people’s buttons, that there’s a power behind it, there was some anointing behind that.”
Throughout his career, Gill has been a part of multiple groups, mainly New Edition. The group reunited in 2014 to tour. “The reason why we’ve been able to come back together for 31 years in this game is simply because there is a true brotherhood for us. This is not something you can manufacture.”
Although Gill is currently single, he revealed that he once used his gift of singing to date a woman. “I put the champagne on ice and I sat it right by the piano. I had the lights dimmed. And when she came in, we sat down and I started playing a couple of songs, a couple of Luther [Vandross] joints as well. And we went from the piano to the floor, from the floor to the bedroom, and I was like ‘Damn, it was that easy?’”
For many years, Gill has been plagued with rumors that he was involved in a gay love affair with his friend, comedian Eddie Murphy. At the time, he was in a relationship and wanted to prove the truth, in case his girlfriend had any fears, so he took a lie detector test. “I laid out a hundred questions and I told her to pick whatever one she wanted,” Gill said. “At the end of the day for me, it gave me a peace of mind. Let me just make sure there’s no doubt.”
