R/GA Named Agency of the Year in Advertising Age’s Annual Agency A-List
New York, NY (PRWEB) January 26, 2015 -- R/GA today was named Advertising Age’s Agency of the Year as part of the 2015 Agency A-List, the latest edition of Ad Age’s annual ranking of the nation’s best advertising and marketing firms.
The first digital agency to win Agency of the Year, R/GA secured its spot partly by boosting its creative capabilities enough to make a Super Bowl commercial for Beats; expanding its responsibilities for mega-marketers such as Samsung; winning business from innovative companies like MakerBot and Airbnb; and planning for the future with a start-up accelerator program that yields ownership in promising new companies—equity stakes for both R/GA and its clients.
R/GA leads this year’s list of the 10 top agencies in the U.S.:
1. R/GA, part of Interpublic Group
2. Deutsch, part of Interpublic Group
3. 360i, part of Dentsu Aegis
4. Weber Shandwick, part of Interpublic Group
5. 72andSunny, part of MDC Partners
6. Droga5, an independent agency
7. Anomaly, part of MDC Partners
8. La Comunidad, part of Publicis Groupe
9. Rosetta, part of Publicis Groupe
10. BBDO, part of Omnicom Group
“The Advertising Age A-List represents the industry’s most innovative and successful ad agencies, the shops that are moving the industry forward,” said Matt Quinn, executive editor of Advertising Age. “That was especially true this year, when many honorees transformed themselves by broadening their capabilities and becoming more strategic partners to their clients.”
R/GA joins a select club of agencies that have won Ad Age’s Agency of the Year honors, including last year’s top winner, WPP’s Grey.
Other highlights of the 2015 Agency A-List include:
Media Agency of the Year: MediaCom, part of WPP
Creativity Agency of the Year: Droga5
International Agency of the Year: Adam & Eve/DDB, part of Omnicom
Multicultural Agency of the Year: Alma, part of Omnicom
B-to-B Agency of the Year: BBDO
Executive of the Year: Harris Diamond, CEO of Interpublic’s McCann Worldgroup
Comeback of the Year: Fallon, part of Publicis
“The transformation in communications and marketing only makes it more important to spotlight the new best practices and excellence in execution, which is what the Agency A-List does,” said Quinn. “A digital agency won the No. 1 spot for the first time, partly for its growing creative work in TV. But other members of the list are just as steadily expanding from traditional media to digital, establishing themselves in fields such as consulting and technology, and collectively defining the future of the industry.”
Each year, Ad Age editors also highlight a group of agencies that they believe deserve a place on marketers’ radar and rosters. The 2015 list of Standouts includes Grey (WPP), 180LA (Omnicom), AKQA (WPP), Carat (Dentsu Aegis), Pereira & O’Dell (Grupo ABC), Huge (IPG), Conill (Publicis), VaynerMedia (independent), Mekanism (independent) and Mullen (IPG).
Ten more shops made the “Agencies to Watch” list for their new momentum, recent changes or new approaches to their business. They are EVB (newly independent), TBWA (Omnicom), Deep Focus (Engine Group), CP&B (MDC), Grupo Gallegos (independent), McKinney (Cheil), Leo Burnett (Publicis), Laundry Service (independent), Essence (independent) and Big Spaceship (independent).
