R U Hungry? Feeding The Hungry of Jackson
Jackson, Mississippi (PRWEB) June 28, 2016 -- R U Hungry feeds the various poor and needy in the City of Jackson every Friday at 6 p.m. in Smith Park. Weekly guests range from the young to the seasoned older adult. They provide free hot food that is prepared by a professional chef and local community members.
R U Hungry has distributed cold waters during extreme heatwaves and emergency Mylar blankets (space blankets) during freezing weather.
"For as many people who claim to love Jesus and love religion, I've seen some of the most unreligious behavior in regard to treating the homeless, almost like they're a blight on society. We should be asking 'How do we help these people a little?' Instead of getting angry at the symptom, why don't we go to the root cause of the problem? How would Jesus help these individuals?" says Qizilbash, who is a Muslim.
Qizilbash teased of pilot program in the works that aims to provide shelter to some of the homeless. He said, “The whole point of our upcoming program is to prove that this crazy idea could work. Imagine that, we live in an age that thinks providing homes for the homeless is a ludicrous idea. That’s one of the main reason we are increasing our fundraising efforts.”
On June 29th, 2016 through June 30th Bilal Qizilbash, the founder of R U Hungry, will be standing at the exit of County Line Road off of I55 North from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. (CST). He will be handing out water, food, and flyers about R U Hungry in 90-degree heat while observing the Muslim tradition of fasting during Ramadan, in which they are not allowed to eat or drink from dawn until sunset.
One of the main reasons for this public display of charity is to help gain consistent financial support from the local citizens of Jackson. Since the feeding is done weekly, the need is great and help is necessary to expand the program to reach more people.
Qizilbash is also a big proponent of not putting people under unnecessary stress, so the point of the $1 per month assistance is to get as many people signed up to demonstrate what a community net effect can achieve.
