When did you first start RaceHorseTrainers.co.uk?
“We were first to market back in 1999 in having a racing portal and building websites for the racing industry. At one stage we had over 50 racing sites from racehorse trainers to racing clubs.
So what happened to RaceHorseTrainers.co.uk?
“We got hacked, along with a number of sites we supported and had to take racehorse trainers down and lost our number one ranking.
So why the relaunch now?
“Racing websites are a bit boring with no surprises, so we thought we do something a bit tongue in check with the relaunch of the portal, something very different. Plus, the tools we are using to build the site are more secure and we are better protected from hackers.
So, what’s so different?
“Well everyone knows when you get into racing it costs a lot and has more downs than ups. We have got a Basil Fawlty cartoon trainer that takes you through the pitfalls and risks of having a horse, plus we have a ‘Why My Horse Has Run Badly’ random excuse button.
Won’t this upset the racing industry?
“Well I am sure we will get a few that hate it, but most people will relate to what we have done.
“Too many people enter the racing game with unrealistic expectations. Owning one horse or a leg will normally lead to disappointment as it’s a numbers game.
“There are a few trainers that offer shares in a number of horses which gives you more of a chance, but the majority of horses fail, and you need to go into racing with your eyes wide open.”

“We do have a serious side and have all of our great racing links back that we had when racehorse trainers were number one in Google. So, it’s a where to go portal for everything about the racing industry.
“We have links to top trainers, bloodstock agents and there is a free pedigree database where you can see dosage and family lines for all the top horses in training.
“We also have a discussion forum and a guest celebrity introducing the horses for sale section.”
Are you going to charge for any of these links?
“No, they are all free and you just need to email Basil(at)RaceHorseTrainers(dot)co(dot)uk to get your link to the portal.”
How do you make money?
“Each of the sections will have links to popular betting sites where they pay a commission and we will donate 50 percent of anything we take to YGAM.org.
“I am concerned about young people getting hooked on gaming machines and internet casinos and YGAM.org is a great charity to support. I don’t expect to make much, but we will set up a memorabilia section later to sell racing stuff.
“Also racing is my hobby and I have been involved with around 15 horses now, with limited success. So like they say when you have a horse, it’s a bit of fun”
