Rachel Culp's Deep Blue "C" -- Daughter of Actor Robert Culp, Rachel, Creates One-of-a-Kind Custom Clothing for Everyone, from Rock Stars to the Kid Next Door
Burbank , Calif. (PRWEB) July 20, 2013 -- Growing up in the heart of L.A. as a semi-typical Hollywood Kid, Rachel had a lot of friends in both the music and movie industries and began creating wild, one-of-a-kind clothes for a lot of them. When somebody needed something completely unique and personalized, they knew right away who to call. Rachel's business grew by word of mouth and over the years her work has appeared in Stores in L.A., Chicago, and San Francisco and on stages, in magazines, and newspapers all over the world. Now, one can find Rachel's totally unique clothing on Etsy.
Some clients include longtime friend musician, Todd Rundgren, Ringo Starr; rock bands: The Tubes, The New Cars, The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Starship, Mr. Big, Elvis Costello Band, drummer and artist Prairie Prince, guitarist Jesse Gress and Blue Oyster Cult .
Being heavily inspired at an early age by 60's and 70's Rock and Roll, antique quilts that tell a story, and clowns in the circus, Rachel's clothes are mainly all one-of-a-kind and made especially for each person to fit their particular personality.
Rachel has come to be known for her unique hand stitching. Using a mix of old and new fabrics, she creates hand-embellished jeans and jackets, pillows, yoga mat bags and quilts for adults and children.
Natasha Weir, wife of Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir, had Rachel make her baby daughter, who refused to put pajamas on, a fun and interactive pair of P.J's out of two of her favorite cashmere sweaters, with little flaps and pockets that revealed a teddy bear, a hula girl, and some balloons. Some clients bring her piles of old clothes with sentimental value (baby clothes, articles of clothing that once belonged to a favorite relative that has since passed away) and she turns them into something to wear or a pillow or quilt.
Rachel did a custom order for a "Baby Buddha" outfit for Liv Tyler's baby boy, Milo Langdon.
Working on very personalized projects is her favorite thing. Rachel made a jacket for her brother, Actor Joseph Culp, out of his favorite old clothes from childhood that were too torn to wear but he couldn't part with. The Coat consists of pieces of his favorite flannel shirt circa age 14, a gold silk bowling shirt; the inner lining has pieces of a t-shirt that belonged to their mother, and the jacket sleeves are covered in a Kama Sutra tapestry that used to hang from the ceiling of his room at boarding school. It has since become a "memorial" jacket masterpiece, a personal wearable poem of disaffected youth.
Rachel's most recent work was for Todd Rundgren and his band on his last tour for his STATE CD .
Rachel grew up in L.A. and has lived in Chicago, Marin County, Michigan and has finally returned back home to California, married for the past 26 years to Celebrity Photographer/ Web Designer Danny O'Connor, whom she met at the tender age of 15 standing in line for a Todd Rundgren concert at The Roxy in L.A. when Danny was touring with Todd. Danny and Rachel have two children: Elliott, 25, and Elmo an up and coming rapper who goes by the name "Bones AKA Th@ Kid ", 19 .
Rachel's motto is "Anything is Possible".
