Radio Disney and Early Learning Collaborative to Showcase Learning Technology at Luna Park’s Halloween Harvest This Sunday
Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) October 25, 2013 -- This Sunday, October 27, Radio Disney and Hispanic Television Network/Early Learning Collaborative (HITN/ELC) will come together to display the latest in early childhood development technology at the annual Luna Park Halloween Harvest. At the family and community event, HITN/ELC will showcase their Transmedia Playground, a language development learning program that leverages the power of technology for education in children ages three to five years old.
At the Halloween event, Radio Disney and HITN/ELC will provide a booth with music, free educational giveaways, and kid-friendly activities. Interactive activities will include an iPad table with HITN/ELC’s Things That Go English language development app, a coloring area, and a puzzle area with HITN/ELC’s latest fun and educational endeavor, the Augmented Reality Photo Op. The company will also distribute crayons, a Pocoyo storybook, a Passport activity book featuring Pocoyo, and a variety of English language learning activities for families visiting the booth.

Luna Park’s Halloween Harvest is an annual event that takes place every weekend in October from 12 pm – 8 pm on West 10th Street, off of Surf Avenue in Brooklyn. The park is decorated with kid-friendly decorations and features games and activities, costumed characters, and seasonal food and beverages. Families can participate in several events including pumpkin painting, trick-or-treating, a scavenger hunt, and watch entertaining performances.

The Early Learning Collaborative (ELC) is designed to leverage the power of technology and transmedia content to help ensure three-to-five-year-old children are fully prepared to begin kindergarten and succeed in school and beyond. The ELC initiative includes three components: digital media applications, educational outreach, and research.
The ELC is currently funded in part by a U.S. Department of Education Ready to Learn grant. The Michael Cohen Group is conducting ongoing formative and summative studies to determine the effectiveness of the materials in each of the 23 Pocoyo PlayGround transmedia sets. The ELC currently has several pilot programs in Alabama, California, Florida, Maine, Oregon, Wisconsin, New York, and Washington D. C. that are currently using the interactive and engaging Pocoyo PlayGround digital, print and manipulative materials.
