Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) January 07, 2014 -- There’s no longer a sign on Capital Boulevard welcoming drivers to Raleigh.
That’s because drivers keep taking it out and it seems the City of Raleigh is tired of paying to replace it, according to the Raleigh Public Record (“Raleigh’s Top 10 Most Dangerous Intersections of 2013,” December 13).
But it’s not the welcome sign that’s concerning. It’s that this particular stretch of Capital Boulevard continually ranks as the most dangerous section of road in all of North Carolina.
“The fact that sliding accidents are specifically mentioned in the article may indicate that this is partially a driver problem. There’s a reason we see so many accidents in Raleigh. Drivers need to slow down,” said North Carolina car accident attorney James S. Farrin.
Interstates 440 and 540 also ranked high on the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s list. 440 as the fifth most dangerous road in the state and 540 taking two of the top 10 most dangerous sections for the city.
According to the Public Record, the “Top 10” list is compiled every year based on data from the five previous years. Sections and intersections are then ranked from most to least dangerous, taking into account factors like the frequency of accidents in the specified area and the severity of injuries in these accidents (“Raleigh’s Top 10 Most Dangerous Intersections of 2013,” December 13).
Farrin said intersections, even ones that are not considered among the most dangerous, are generally common locations for all types of car wrecks, including rear-end collisions, t-bone crashes and accidents involving motorcyclists and pedestrians.
“You can reduce your risk by following the rules of the road and driving defensively as you approach an intersection,” Farrin said. “Of course, even the most cautious drivers can get into an intersection accident because some other driver was not paying attention or driving carelessly. If you have been injured in such an accident, you should seek the advice legal counsel to try to make sure your rights are protected.”
