Rally the Troops: L.A. to Ohio, Always Evolving Takes on Two Events at Different Ends of the Country
Lexington, OH (PRWEB) August 05, 2013 -- After the team’s best finish of the year in Toronto, the Always Evolving Crew is having the momentum carry them with goals of a top ten finish at the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course. On the other end of the country, the team has added a new member to the roster, accomplished rallycar driver, David Sterckx. Sterckx will be representing Always Evolving, the Los Angeles County based performance, motors, and race team during this year’s X Games, which just so happens to be taking place the same weekend as the team’s two race weekend at Mid Ohio. With a newly claimed victory under his belt from the New England Forest Rally Race, Sterckx is now preparing to carry on his winning streak at this weekend’s Summer X Games, an event that has been his goal to compete in for a long time. The Belgium born Sterckx has a diverse racing background which includes the Toyota Atlantic Series, FIA GT World Championship, 24hr of Spa, and Rally America Super Production, a series that David is currently the leader in. Many challenges await David in his quest for X Games Gold, including the transition from Subaru to the rally prepped Hyundai Veloster and driving on an unfamiliar style rally course.
Also making their debut performance at a course that is new to them, the Always Evolving Team has journeyed to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Both drivers of the Always Evolving Boss 302S Mustangs are up to the challenge of learning this track that features as many unpredictable weather changes as there are elevation changes. During their first practice session, the wet course allowed our drivers to take their time and learn the track. In the second session, the number 75# Ford driven by Erik Davis encountered a malfunction with the driveshaft potentially leaving him out of the practice and qualifying session the next day. But thanks to the help of our relentless crew who drove over 330 miles through the night to pick up a spare drive shaft at the Watson Racing facility, Davis was able to get a full practice session in and qualify right behind team mate Roger Rodas who laid down an impressive lap time of 1:32.369.
One of the crew members that made the trip to Watson Racing was none other than Always Evolving’s new Crew Chief, Rob Schnabel. No stranger to Pirelli World Challenge, Rob has worked with many teams past and present. His determination and passion for racing has proven itself time and time again earning him the promotion from lead Car Chief to Crew Chief. Rob will be working alongside long time racing veteran Cary Eisenlohr, Always Evolving’s Race Engineer, to continue the progression made in Toronto which resulted in Roger Rodas taking home a top five finish, the Sunoco Hard Charger Award and the Invisible Glass Clean Pass of the Race Award.
Both Drivers have taken inspiration by watching late racing legend Paul Brown’s epic battles for first place in 2011 to fuel the team’s fiery passion to succeed this weekend. With aspirations to make history of their own, the Always Evolving Team looks forward to Saturday and Sunday’s races.
