Rancho BioSciences Donates GWAS ETL Loader Scripts and Documentation to the tranSMART Foundation
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) June 18, 2015 -- Rancho BioSciences, The Data Curation Company, announced it has donated GWAS (Genome Wide Association Studies) ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) scripts and documentation for tranSMART v 1.2 Oracle to Github. Rancho worked in collaboration with two major pharmaceutical companies to make this happen. A script was developed for the latest version of tranSMART which performs indexing for the improved performance of the Genome Wide Association Visual Analyzer (GWAVA), tranSMART’s interactive Manhattan plotter developed by Peter Henstock of Pfizer. With the new scripts, Rancho improved the speed of the search queries so that tranSMART users can quickly and easily get the information they need.
“Rancho used the MAGIC data set for proof of concept,” said Julie Bryant, CEO and Founder of Rancho BioSciences. “Now, we can more efficiently add GWAS data sets and the tranSMART community can benefit from what we learned and developed during this process.”
Keith Elliston, CEO of the tranSMART Foundation, said “We applaud Rancho BioSciences for this and their many other contributions to the community. Rancho’s contributions are fostering the sharing of data and making it easier to access. Through the open source tranSMART Platform, more and more scientists are able to use the data available to them in their translational research programs.”
Scripts and materials are available in Github: https://github.com/ranchobiosciences/transmart-gwas-plugin/tree/master/EtlPack ;
