RAS & Associates' Founding Partner, Rob Swanson, Named Corporate Citizen Of The Year
Denver, CO (PRWEB) November 25, 2013 -- RAS & Associates, a leading strategy and management consulting firm headquartered in Denver, is proud to announce that Founding Partner and CEO, Rob Swanson, has been named the 2013 Corporate Citizen of the Year. This award is given by Denver’s leading business publication, the Denver Business Journal, and recognizes outstanding involvement in the community on behalf of Colorado’s executive leadership.
Swanson was recognized at the Partners in Philanthropy Giving Guide Celebration on Thursday, November 21st. The event brought together business executives and the nonprofit community to celebrate Denver’s commitment to philanthropy. The day consisted of an expo, morning educational sessions, and an awards program.
This is the fifth year the Denver Business Journal has organized the Partners in Philanthropy and Corporate Citizen of the Year awards. Nominations are submitted online and under deliberation for several months. Aside from the overall Corporate Citizen of the Year award, there are three Partners in Philanthropy awards given to a large, medium, and small Denver company. RAS & Associates was also nominated for the 2013 Partners in Philanthropy award in the small company division. The 2013 Partners in Philanthropy winners were Comcast Corporation, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and the Galloway Group.
Close to 90% of the RAS & Associates’ team participates in monthly community events both for the firm and individually. The firm provides $500 - $1000 of training and/or tuition reimbursement each year. However, employees may also use the funds for charitable donations which RAS & Associates will match. The firm as a whole donated more than $45,000 in gifts and cash to local no-for-profits in 2013 alone. “Very early on we allocated money and dedicated time to help not-for-profits execute their missions, raise money more effectively, or just basically offer services that they otherwise wouldn't get from a consulting firm,” said Swanson.
Swanson has actively participated on two boards since 2010. From 2010 to 2012, Swanson was a member of the the Denver Zoo’s Do at the Zoo board. The board’s primary job was to support the Denver Zoo’s yearly event, Do at the Zoo, which raised funds for the zoo’s overall sustainability. Recently Swanson said, “It was an amazing experience because I was making an impact that local families and even my kids would appreciate.”
Currently Swanson is an active board member for the Tennyson Center for Children, a care and educational center for abused, neglected and at-risk children. As a board member, Swanson actively raises awareness about the Tennyson Center’s mission, financially and physically supports the non-profit’s initiatives and events, and sponsors monthly get-together at one of the Tennyson Center’s live-in facilities.
When asked what motivates him, Swanson said, “It doesn't take a lot to put a smile on someone’s face, and that smile is 100-to-one compared to any time or money you can give up.”
