Razuna Launches Image Management Extension for Magento
Houston, TX (PRWEB) April 02, 2014 -- Razuna has released a Magento extension, which allows Magento users to display product images from Razuna directly in their Magento based webshop. This will save hours and hours of work and help keep product images completely up-to-date across all disctibution channels.
"In recent years, we have seen a growing interest from Magento users to have Razuna serve product images directly to their Magento webshop," says Razuna CEO, Jens Strandbygaard.
"Magento is well known for its rather laborious interface, when it comes to handling images, so we had been considering different integration scenarios for quite some time. We didn’t want to just sync images from Magento to Razuna and let the users continue to manage their images in Magento, since this would not generate the time savings and ease of use that we were looking for."
The solution that the Razuna team came up with turned out to be brilliantly simple, and extremely powerful. Using the popular Razuna API, the Razuna-Magento extension simply overrides the product image handling in Magento completely, giving users the ability to take care of all image management tasks directly in Razuna.
To use this approach users simply upload their images in Razuna, and can ignore the product image section in Magento altogether, cutting down significantly on time spent creating and editing their product images. When a product is shown to the end-user through Magento, either through a search, a category, or on the main product view, Magento connects to Razuna and automatically fetches all relevant product images.
"So instead of manually uploading thousands of images in Magento, sometimes even the same image for multiple products, you only need to upload to Razuna once, add the SKU from Magento and the extension handles the rest," explains Jens Strandbygaard.
"The goal is to save Magento users time as well as to allow the Razuna users the ability to use images directly from Razuna across their distribution channels. Currently, it is a very slow process to attach images to products in Magento through their interface; and changing or updating images is even more tedious. Razuna, being born as a media asset management platform, however, is designed to handle images well, and thus saves Magento users a significant amount of time."
With Magento's basic image handling interface, users either try to import the product and relevant image(s), which requires some skill - or users go to the product in Magento, open the image tab and manually upload their images.
Now, with Razuna’s extension, all a user needs to do, is to add the Magento SKU as a label to the image in Razuna. This process takes mere seconds. Once the extension is installed, Magento automatically connects and displays the corresponding images for each product.
Another key time saver is that if a user decides to change an image for a product, all that he or she needs to do is upload the new image into Razuna replacing the existing image file. As soon as this is done, the new image is displayed in Magento for all associated products.
And since Razuna is a digital asset management platform, ad agencies, resellers and other trading partners with access, can log into Razuna and download the images as well.
Because of the powerful extension system of Magento, Razuna has been able to ensure easy installation. Users can either download the Razuna Magento extension package from the Razuna website or they can fetch it directly from the Magento Extension Community by entering the Razuna extension key.
The Razuna extension is free and it will work with all deployments of Razuna: Open source, cloud SaaS, commercial and enterprise releases.
