RBMA Introduces Special Coding Education Track at Paradigm Conference

Fairfax, VA (PRWEB) April 20, 2017 -- Radiology billing and coding professionals who are part of the Radiology Business Management Association have a new resource for staying current on the latest changes in radiology coding while keeping up with continuing education credit requirements for coding certifications. On Sunday, April 23, 2017, the RBMA Paradigm conference begins with a special series of radiology coding education sessions that when taken in sequence over the four-day conference can earn the attendee five Radiology Coding Certification Board (RCCB) continuing education credits.

Certification in radiology coding helps ensure coders are knowledgeable about the complex ins and outs of radiology coding and current on the latest changes in federal regulations and coding practices. Established in 2000, the not-for-profit RCCB administers Radiology Certified Coder exams and requires those who earn the RCC credential to earn continuing education credits each year by going through additional training such as the coding education sessions offered at the 2017 RBMA Paradigm conference.

The sessions can also be helpful for coders with other credential maintenance requirements as they also qualify for American College of Healthcare Executive (ACHE) Qualified Education (non-ACHE) credits, National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) credits and category A continuing education credits. Several of the sessions also qualify for American Association of Professional Coders credits, and they can count toward the RBMA credits necessary to meet the application requirements for the prestigious Fellow of the RBMA (FRBMA) credential awarded annually by the RBMA.

“The RBMA has a long history of offering radiology-specific coding education, and we heard from members that there was an opportunity to do even more at our Paradigm conference through a dedicated radiology coding track,” said RBMA Coding Subcommittee Chair Lori Shore. “The members of our subcommittee worked closely with the Programs Committee to bring some of the top experts in radiology coding to Paradigm. As a member of the radiology coding profession myself, I am personally very excited about the quality of the topics assembled and the speakers.”

The coding presenters for the 2017 Paradigm conference include:

  • Jennifer Bash, RHIA, CPC, CIRCC, RCC, coding and documentation education manager for ADVOCATE Radiology Billing, is a member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC). She is an AHIMA-Approved ICD-10-CM trainer with nearly 15 years of radiology coding experience.
  • Stephanie Dybul, MBA, RT (R)(VI), CIRCC, division administrator of vascular and interventional radiology with The Medical College of Wisconsin, has served on the RBMA’s Coding Subcommittee since 2013. In addition, she is an active volunteer within the Society of Interventional Radiology and serves on numerous SIR committees including its Coding Education and Application Workgroup.
  • Catherine Everett, MD, MBA, president and managing partner at Coastal Radiology, is a radiologist and the first and only woman to have served as Chief of Staff at CarolinaEast Medical Center.
  • Debby Mann, CPC, RCC, ROCC, coding documentation and education manager at ADVOCATE Radiology Billing and Reimbursement Specialists, has more than two decades of radiology billing experience. She is a member of the RBMA Coding Subcommittee and Programs Committee. She holds many coding certifications and is an AHIMA-approved ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS trainer.
  • Karna Morrow is the manager of consulting services at Coding Strategies, Inc.
  • Melody W. Mulaik, MSHS, CRA, CPC, CPC-H, RCC, is president and founder of Coding Strategies, Inc. and Revenue Cycle, Inc.

Paradigm takes place April 23 to 26 in Chicago with conference registration available onsite. In addition, some sessions will be available to attendees as audio and slide presentations after the conference.
