RBMA Plans 50th Anniversary Gala for 2018 PaRADigm Conference
FAIRFAX, Va. (PRWEB) November 30, 2017 -- The Radiology Business Management Association will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2018 with as special gala to be held in conjunction with its annual PaRADigm conference. The conference is scheduled for April 5 to 8, 2018, in San Diego, and the anniversary gala will be held at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront hotel from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on April 7, 2018.
“Preparing for the annual conference is always exciting and this year is extra special as we will be celebrating the past while inspiring the future,” said RBMA Board of Directors President Thomas C. Dickerson, Ed.D., FACHE. “It has been an honor to lead the RBMA’s Board of Directors in the year leading up to our 50th anniversary. Together with the RBMA staff and the RBMA Programs Committee, we have planned a wonderful event worthy of our association's long history in radiology business management education and advocacy.”
The RBMA was founded in 1968 with the support and direction of the American College of Radiology (ACR). The president of the ACR that year, Joseph D. Calhoun, M.D., guided the first the first RBMA steering committee meeting in Chicago, and Dr. Calhoun’s business manager, Maxine Williams, became the first director of the organization. The first president of the RBMA, Ben Stephens, Jr., was selected in 1970.
“From the beginning, the RBMA was dedicated to helping its members become more informed and better educated in the growing radiology business management field,” Dr. Dickerson said. “PaRADigm, which launched in 2017, represents the best of our half century of experience in radiology business education, and holding the anniversary gala at the conference truly brings the past and present together in a very special way.”
This year’s PaRADigm conference will include eight educational tracks representing the eight areas of the RBMA’s Common Body of Knowledge curriculum. It will also have a full-day Coding Education Pre-Conference on April 4. Nationally renowned experts and leading speakers will present on a variety of topics, including:
- Patrick Combs, a best-selling author and thought leader on passion, possibility, and heart-centered customer care, who will give the first of two keynote presentations.
- Shannon Miller, the most decorated Olympic gymnast in American history, as well as a book author, company founder, speaker and cancer survivor, who will give the second of two keynote presentations.
The anniversary gala itself will feature a dinner, a look back at the organization’s history, special recognitions, live music and dancing.
