RBSC Brings the “Light of Gigabit Speeds to the Promise Land!”
Tahlequah, Oklahoma (PRWEB) January 21, 2015 -- Rural Broadband Services Corporation, Inc. (RBSC) is fulfilling the President’s promise to increase the quality of life through technology in rural, persistent poverty counties and tribal areas in America. RBSC is bringing its high-speed, Gigabit service to the tribal lands of Oklahoma including the counties of Adair, Cherokee, McIntosh, Sequoyah, and Muscogee of the Promised Land. The first phase of the RBSC rural development plan began in Tahlequah, Oklahoma in 2014.
This growth is in direct response to Barrack Obama’s Executive Order that established the White House Rural Council in 2011. One of the primary objectives of the council is to expand telecommunications in these geographical and technological areas. RBSC is responding to the goal to eliminate the technology gap between urban and rural America by leading the charge to bring broadband services to underserved communities or communities with no access to broadband.
RBSC has been provisionally selected by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for funding that will allow significant expansion of our high-speed broadband services into Tribal areas of Oklahoma, known as the Promised Land. RBSC is working hard to convince the FCC to make its provisional selection final, which, if successful, will be another major step in achieving America’s goal to make rural high-speed internet services available to all Citizens.
The FCC’s Experiments Program through its Connect America Fund ensures that consumers everywhere can benefit from the sweeping technological advances occurring now in the communications industry, while preserving consumer protection, competition, universal service and access to emergency services during these transitions. RBSC has full confidence in the FCC’s commitment to bring the “Light of Gigabit Speeds to the Promise Land” according to the rules and regulations specified in the President’s initiative. A few years ago, the FCC estimated that there would be $50 billion dollars spent by the federal government over the next twenty years to incentivize private investments for infrastructure in rural America. These investments are expected to create 500,000 new jobs and more than $200 million in private investment that are connected to these activities. In addition, CNN projected that 685,000 businesses, 900 healthcare facilities, and 240 schools in all 50 states will receive some benefit from government investment in broadband communications in rural America.
Progress is being made, and RBSC is proud to be part of the solution. This is good news for America as a nation. The contribution of rural communities is important to our society and bridging the technology gap between rural and urban communities is crucial socio-economics for the future success of our nation.
