RE/MAX Realtor Lauren Schneider Educates Remote Buyers on Purchasing a Home Sight Unseen
(PRWEB) October 04, 2017 -- Colorado Springs is home to many active duty soldiers and veterans. Between Fort Carson, Peterson Air Force Base, Shriever Air Force Base, the Air Force Academy, and Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Base, there is a steady influx of military personnel moving into the city due to receiving PCS orders.
“A large number of our clients are military personnel whose current location or schedules prevent them from visiting Colorado Springs prior to their move. Oftentimes, our clients see their house for the first time after closing on it,” said RE/MAX Realtor Lauren Schneider, who is the owner of MilitaryHomeSearch.com, which was designed to meet the unique needs of military home buyers and has helped over 225 military families find homes. “Keep in mind that houses can be viewed via Skype, FaceTime and/or customized YouTube video tours.”
For military personnel and others who can’t make a househunting trip prior to purchasing, Schneider lists the following four tips:
No. 1: Take note of any imperfections. During the selection process, be sure to ask the Realtor to point out any sort of imperfections in the paint, flooring, scent, carpet, floor plan, etc. “You will want to know as many details as possible up front since you won’t be there to see the home firsthand,” said Schneider.
No. 2: Ask for a virtual tour of the street/neighborhood. “This will give you a sense of the location and the surroundings of the house, i.e. a macro view,” noted Schneider.
No. 3: Research the area. “Since you will be new to the area, get informed about the local parks, schools, where the house is in relation to downtown and shopping, as well as local routes,” stressed Schneider.
No. 4: Confer with the home inspector. In addition to receiving a copy of the home inspection, one should make sure they receive a phone call in which they are briefed by the home inspector. This will allow the buyer to ask questions and get honest feedback from a third party concerning the condition of the house.
“At MilitaryHomeSearch.com, we take the responsibility very seriously to be critics and educators for our remote buyers,” concluded Schneider. “By putting ourselves in their shoes, we are able to facilitate these remote home purchases. It is so fulfilling to take care of all our clients’ home buying needs while they are preparing for their move.”
