RE/MAX’s Christina Cunningham Says it’s Time for Sellers to Celebrate
Lafayette, IN (PRWEB) September 10, 2015 -- “If you’re thinking about selling your home, now is the time,” said Christina. “Existing-home sales have reached the highest pace in over eight years.” According to the NAR, the median existing-home price for all housing types reached $236,400 in June 2015, which is 6.5 percent above levels a year ago and surpasses the peak median sales price set in July 2006 at $230,400. This uptick is due in no small part to steady job growth over the past year.
“All major regions in the country saw higher sales in June,” said Christina. “In fact, forty-seven percent of homes sold in less than a month in June.”
The NAR reports that properties usually stayed on the market for just 34 days in June, which is the shortest number of days since the NAR began tracking in May 2011. Short sales had the longest days on the market with a median of 129 days, while foreclosures sold in 39 days and non-distressed homes were on the market for 33 days, on average.
According to an article in Realtor Magazine, also on the rise is urban, or backyard, farming. Governments are beginning to see benefits to localizing food production. More than a dozen states have recently enacted legislation promoting small-scale agriculture, and some have introduced incentives to encourage people to pursue backyard food production on residential property.
“Urban farming is a viable niche and could expand your home’s appeal with buyers,” said Christina. “I personally have chickens and a little stand in my backyard to sell the eggs.”
