Recorded Books and iVerse Media Select Boopsie’s AccessILS Platform to Rapidly Expand Comics Plus: Library Edition for Distribution on Desktop and Mobile Devices
Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) June 22, 2015 -- Leading digital content distributor, Recorded Books, has partnered with Boopsie to utilize Boopsie’s new AccessILS™ platform in order to quickly scale sales and deployment of iVerse Media’s digital catalog of comics and graphic novels and integrate with libraries’ existing Integrated Library Systems (ILS). Under the terms of the agreement, iVerse Media and Recorded Books will leverage the AccessILS API to distribute Comics Plus: Library Edition, a collection of more than 10,000 titles to public libraries worldwide. Libraries also have the option of offering Comics Plus: Library Edition via a desktop browser and a library-branded mobile app.
“Digital comics and graphic novels are in increasing demand among library patrons. Seamless and automated deployment of digital catalogs reduces the time-to-market and the development costs that were previously required,” says Tony Medrano, Boopsie’s CEO. “Pairing Comics Plus with our vendor neutral AccessILS API automates this process and enables librarians to quickly and easily provide digital content to their communities.”
Available as a cloud-based service for both desktop and mobile catalogs, Boopsie’s AccessILS™ helps content providers integrate their digital catalogs with the dozens of legacy IT systems that libraries worldwide use to manage their collections. Among other benefits, AccessILS’s vendor-neutral single sign-on module acts as a patron identity management system, saving content providers significant engineering resources and reducing their risk while helping libraries increase circulation of highly sought after comics titles.
To further increase usage and circulation, libraries may also choose to develop a custom Boopsie app that combines a user-friendly, native mobile interface with high quality resources from industry-leading content providers. The library-branded mobile apps from Boopsie seamlessly connect users not only to Comics Plus and Recorded Books’ subscription services, but also to digital catalogs from ProQuest, Baker & Taylor, EBSCO, OverDrive, and LexisNexis, among others.
“The need to integrate with each library system, individually, was a major technical and financial obstacle to scaling distribution of our digital comics catalog to libraries,” said Tony Hodby, IVerse Media’s COO. “Boopsie’s AccessILS solves this problem and enables us to scale rapidly.”
“We look forward to leveraging Boopsie’s AccessILS technology and their library branded mobile apps to increase sales for our publishing partners and to provide great subscription services to libraries,” adds Rich Freese, CEO of Recorded Books. “Our international sales team is very pleased to offer two of the most innovative and in demand services to libraries--digital comics and mobile apps.”
Boopsie and Recorded Books will be demonstrating this new offering at the American Library Association Conference in San Francisco June 26th-30th.
