Red Comet’s Online Curriculum for High School Unveils Brand New Enrichment Course on Astronomy
Prosser, WA (PRWEB) July 12, 2013 -- Red Comet is introducing “Astronomy: Exploring the Universe” as part of its efforts to launch during this summer several new high school electives. Since the first glimpse of the night sky, humans have been fascinated with the stars, planets, and universe that surrounds us. Astronomy is one of the oldest sciences known to humans. Before the invention of the telescope, humans explored the skies with the naked eye; but now, several technological advancements have made new discoveries in astronomy possible.
This course introduces students to the study of astronomy, including its history and development, basic scientific laws of motion and gravity, the concepts of modern astronomy, and the methods used by astronomers to learn more about the universe. Additional topics include the solar system, the Milky Way and other galaxies, and the sun and stars. Using online tools, students examine the life cycle of stars, the properties of planets, and the exploration of space.
