Redmond Town Center Debuts Skating Rink
Redmond, Washington (PRWEB) December 16, 2014 -- Redmond Town Center has something brand new to offer their shoppers this holiday season - ice skating. Located near the Center Court, right beside Santa's Workshop, is a 3,000 square foot synthetic ice rink supplied and operated by SmartRink.
To date, more than 1,000 skaters have tried it out. "The skating rink is something new this year for Redmond Town Center's holiday activities. It's been a nice addition and our shoppers seem to be really enjoying it," says Courtney Klein, property manager for Redmond Town Center.
SmartRink is a Canadian company with headquarters in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Company President Tim Oldfield was on site for the initial opening weekend. "Skating outside is a fairly unique experience in this area," he said. "This time of year, it can get a little damp, so our product makes a lot of sense in this winter climate."
SmartRink synthetic ice is made from high-tech-engineered polymer panels, fitted together to form the skating surface. Sizes can vary but rinks can be built up to full size and skaters are able to use conventional ice skates. Very little maintenance is required other than periodic cleaning of the surface.
The rink will be operating until early February and is opened daily during regular mall hours. Prices are $5 for children age 5 and up and $7 for adults. Skates of all sizes are available. Those with their own skates are welcome to bring them and can skate for $5. The rink is located in the middle of the outdoor Shopping Center.
