Reducing Risk of Falls in Adults with Aquatic Therapy Techniques Topic of HydroWorx-Sponsored ICAA Webinar
Middletown, PA (PRWEB) November 04, 2014 -- The fear of falling is a significant problem among adults. As individuals age, the risks associated with a serious fall are significant, including strains, sprains, breaks and even fatalities. Additionally, falls can become costly; according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the approximate costs from fall-related injuries is annually in excess of $30 billion. Consequently, it is imperative for physical therapists to work with aging patients on balance training in a forgiving environment such as an advanced aquatic pool with underwater treadmill and resistance jets.
On November 5, 2014, from 1-2 p.m. EST, HydroWorx will sponsor the ICAA webinar entitled “Reduce the Risk of Falls with Aquatics”. The webinar will be presented by Jackie Halbin, published author and Kansas-based Lakeview Village Living Well Manager. The webinar is free to the public, but registration is required. Registration can be made at http://ww2.hydroworx.com/webinar-icaa-jackie.
During “Reduce the Risk of Falls with Aquatics”, Halbin will discuss how physical therapists and senior living professionals can enhance their fall prevention programs by adding aquatics options. Participants will learn how to maintain a comfortable level between trainer and patient, how to help patients' progress by building self-confidence and balance awareness and how to improve adults’ abilities to remain independent as long as possible.
“Reduce the Risk of Falls with Aquatics” has been designed for physical and occupational therapists and assistants, aquatics and fitness directors and wellness directors and coordinators.
