RedVector Launches New Course Series: "Design of Reinforced Concrete Using the ACI Code"
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) July 23, 2013 -- RedVector.com, the leader in online continuing education and workforce training solutions for the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry, recently launched a new advanced-level course series entitled "Design of Reinforced Concrete Using the ACI Code." All eight courses are mobile accessible and feature Smart Notes—a printable synopsis of key points from the course and a valuable reference guide for students.
"This series offers RedVector clients a unique opportunity to gain knowledge on highly sophisticated ACI code," says Matt Casey, PhD, Vice President of Content for RedVector. "In addition to the robust content in the series, there are also Microsoft® Excel® templates as resources clients can download for future use and reference. The series is also compatible with mobile devices, making content easier than ever to access. We are excited to make this advanced-level series available to RedVector clients."
The new concrete courses are the first in a 3-part installment, with two additional groups of courses to be released in the coming months. The following courses are now available through the RedVector online course library.
• Design of Reinforced Concrete Using the ACI Code: Introduction (RV-10385): Defines and identifies the advantages and disadvantages of different types of concrete, as well as the aspects of concrete—its composition, compatibility with steel, weights and strengths, and load types. (2 hours)
• Design of Reinforced Concrete Using the ACI Code: Flexural Analysis of Beams (RV-10386): Discusses the three progressive stages that occur before a beam collapses and how to calculate the stress of concrete beams at the different stages. (1 hour)
• Design of Reinforced Concrete Using the ACI Code: Strength Analysis of Beams (RV-10419): Examines strength analysis of beams according to the ACI code and introduces two different design methods: working-stress design and strength design. (1 hour)
• Design of Reinforced Concrete Using the ACI Code: Design of Rectangular Beams and One-Way Slabs (RV-10420): An in-depth look at rectangular beams and one-way slabs, including load factors, beam design, limitations of lateral bracing and deep beams, bundled bars, one-way slabs, and reinforcement of cantilever and continuous beams. (1 hour)
• Design of Reinforced Concrete Using the ACI Code: Serviceability (RV-10387): Examines deflections and cracks; provides background material on the importance, control, and calculation of deflections. (1 hour)
• Design of Reinforced Concrete Using the ACI Code: Bond, Development Lengths, and Splices (RV-10388): Looks at how to properly bond beams for a variety of purposes by calculating the development lengths for the reinforcement bars. (2 hours)
• Design of Reinforced Concrete Using the ACI Code: Shear and Diagonal Tension (RV-10389): Discusses shear and diagonal tension on reinforced concrete and how different types of reinforcement can help mitigate the damage caused by cracking. (2 hours)
• Design of Reinforced Concrete Using the ACI Code: Two-Way Slabs, Equivalent Frame Method (RV-10424): Illustrates how moment distribution can be applied to the analysis of structures consisting of non-prismatic members; examines the difference between the direct design method and the equivalent frame method, and list the properties of slam beams and columns. (1 hour)
