Regency Towers Announces 2014 Mardi Gras at the Beach in Panama City Beach
Panama City Beach, FL (PRWEB) February 26, 2014 -- Regency Towers, a first-class vacation condo resort in Panama City Beach, announces that the 2014 Mardi Gras at the Beach will be held Feb. 28 and Mar. 1 at PCB’s famous Pier Park village.
The family-friendly festivities in Northwest Florida's top vacation rental destination are expected to begin Friday evening with a street fair, a Little Pirates fun zone for children and live entertainment, followed by the children’s parade and second-line parade. After the christening of the parade floats, there will be a pirate costume contest for the kids and a fireworks show at Pier Park.
Saturday, the 2014 Mardi Gras at the Beach vacation fun continues with the all-day street festival and tailgate party, as well as the pirate and wench costume contests for the grown-ups. There will be live entertainment throughout the day at Pier Park and another fireworks spectacular lighting up the sky Saturday night.
The main 2014 Mardi Gras at the Beach parade is expected to start at 6 p.m. Saturday.
The Mardi Gras King and Queen, their court, and a lively line of floats and bands will start at the intersection of Powell Adams and Front Beach roads, wind through Pier Park and end on Stingray Drive. Look for float-riders to toss lots of beads and prizes to the crowd.
The Mardi Gras at the Beach 2014 festival in Panama City Beach is free and open to the public.
PCB Mardi Gras at the Beach is put on by the local Krewe of Dominique Youx, a group whose goal is to make Panama City Beach the No. 1 place to celebrate Mardi Gras in Florida. In its statement to the public, the Krewe says:
“We value the glamour, spectacle, pageantry and fun that surrounds the Mardi Gras Season and each year we strive to keep that spirit alive and well in Bay County.”
The Mardi Gras at the Beach festival has drawn as many as 50,000 people in previous years, according to the Krewe.
To avoid the traffic congestion around the Pier Park area during the Mardi Gras celebration, Regency Towers recommends booking a vacation rental condo toward the east end of PCB and taking the Front Beach Road trolley.
