Relative Content Releases TeachBack--A New Mobile App to Collect Instant Student Feedback and Improve Instructional Effectiveness
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (PRWEB) February 18, 2015 -- Relative Content has released its free mobile application, TeachBack, nationwide for iPhone® and Android®. TeachBack is a classroom education tool that gathers structured feedback from students about their educators’ lessons, lectures, and overall class experiences. Teachers and administrators at high schools, colleges, and post-graduate institutions, as well as trainers in other disciplines, can use this feedback to gather valuable information that can help better assess and improve instructional effectiveness.
When teachers and students download TeachBack, teachers choose among multiple polls built into the app that focus on engagement, instruction, the instructor, or a combination of these areas. Teachers then receive a code to be given to students, who can then gain access to the polls and the ability to submit their responses. Students are also given the opportunity to leave a comment, and each poll can be conveniently completed in less than a minute.
The students’ answers are collected in real-time, tabulated, and presented to teachers through charts, tables, and aggregate data, as well as through averages and individual responses. The app ensures the protection of student anonymity by allowing teachers to see the students’ responses without attributing them to any particular student from the class. Unlike periodic or end-of-semester reflections, TeachBack generates a rapid process of feedback information that teachers can examine and apply as soon as the next class session.
“It’s incredible,” says Jeff Ritter, CEO and professor at La Roche College and creator of TeachBack. “I get valuable feedback about my student’s engagement and perception of the quality of the class that they may not otherwise choose to volunteer. This information can help confirm whether or not my methods are helping the students to engage actively with the material.”
Dr. Ritter has more than 20 years of teaching experience at multiple levels, and he founded Relative Content to develop educational tools that empower teachers and students to achieve the best education possible.
