Relax, and Pour Yourself some Beer or Wine while you shop at MOSA Boutique
Charleston, South Carolina (PRWEB) January 15, 2015 -- Sarah Cobb’s lifelong dream has become a reality in the form of MOSA Boutique, a unique fashion experience unlike any others in Charleston, South Carolina, or the rest of the United States for that matter. MOSA is situated near the corner of King Street and John in the heart of downtown Charleston. The name MOSA is derived from the ornamental mimosa tree that is popular throughout that region as well as the delicious champagne-based cocktail, which also happens to be one of the libations available while their customers shop/ lounge. When we asked Sarah about her idea for MOSA, she said, “I wanted to create a shopping experience unlike any I’d ever seen before. We want our customers to spend as much time as they’d like browsing, enjoying a cocktail, a wine or some craft beer, without feeling rushed or pressured. The self-serve beer and wine wall we got from PourMyBeer is a great way to do that.”
“Most people that come to MOSA for the first time aren't expecting to be able to pour their own beer or wine while they shop,” Sarah added, “We issue them an RFID card, they pour some beer or wine and they continue shopping at their leisure. When they are done using the card, they only pay for the exact amount of ounces they poured.”
Since opening up in October of 2014, MOSA has seen steady growth in foot traffic and sales and has now launched their online retail store. While you may not be able enjoy a self-serve beer wine or a mimosa, you can take advantage of the ease of purchase of online retail.
The Company that Sarah worked with to bring self-serve beer and wine to Charleston is a Chicago-based start-up called PourMyBeer. We caught up with them to get their thoughts on retail as a viable vertical for their concept. The owner of the company, Josh Goodman, said, “We get all kinds of requests for our systems in all types of venues. While retail is not our focus, I do believe Sarah has opened a door for us that we might not have opened on our own.” Goodman went on to reference some of the benefits of self-serve beer and wine. The biggest seems to be cost savings and accountability. In short, the beer or wine on tap cannot be dispensed unless someone has a pre-authorized RFID card. This prevents waste, theft, spillage and lowers the cost of goods by 25% for whoever is buying the kegs. Goodman did say to keep an eye out for airports, bowling alleys and hotels this year. They are already in all of those verticals, but are staffing up and preparing for rapid growth in 2015.
