Renderings for New Baseball Stadium on Staten Island Released to the Public at Charity Event
New York, NY (PRWEB) October 26, 2013 -- On Thursday, October 24th, more than 300 people attended a casino night fundraiser for The Joseph Anthony Verdino, Jr. Field of Dreams Foundation on Staten Island. During the awards ceremony, the foundation unveiled the never-before-seen architectural renderings of the baseball stadium to be built in honor of Joseph Anthony Verdino, Jr. on the South Shore of the borough.
Attendees were given the first glimpse of a stadium which will feature field turf, a glass enclosed press box, the latest in audio visual technology, full service concession stand, VIP and box seating, custom dugouts for the players, covered grandstand, and of course the foundation's name, Joseph Anthony Verdino, Jr. Field of Dreams, emblazoned on the stadiums facade.
"This is a very special night for the foundation," said the Master of Ceremonies and Field of Dreams Board Member, John Calabrese. "We would not be where we are today were it not for the support of those in this room and our local elected officials, and for that we thank you all."
In addition to showcasing the new stadium, the night also featured an awards ceremony where the foundation honored Councilman James Oddo, as well as newly elected Field of Dreams Board Member Ms. Elaine Burke. The non-profit also presented a check in the amount of $5,000 to the West Shore Little League to help them continue their program.
Also in attendance were local elected officials Assemblyman Joseph Borelli, Councilman Vincent Ignizio, and City Council candidate, Steven Matteo.
Construction on the stadium is scheduled to begin sometime in 2014 at the current site of the South Shore Little League baseball field in the Tottenville section of Staten Island.
