Report by Gabriele Skelton reveals that UK Digital and Design Agencies are recovering from economic woes
London, UK (PRWEB UK) 23 January 2014 -- The report, which is now in its fifth year, was created by Gabriele Skelton, Fairley & Associates and On Pointe Marketing.
The news was mixed but the most positive take away was that in the last year 42% of UK digital and design agency staff have received a pay rise.
It showed that the pay rises were out performing inflation with nearly three quarters (73%) of those who received one sharing that their pay rise was more than 3% of their salary. Over 10% of those reported a pay rise of more than 10% of their salary – still quite unusual in the current economic climate.
For those looking to make a move into the industry there is some useful feedback to keep in mind – those who took the survey say that they believed for those moving into account management, digital, design and strategy that working your way up from a junior position is the best way into the industry. The importance of formal training such as a degree or course was said to be most important in design (47%) followed by digital (39%).
Karina Beasley, co-author and MD of Gabriele Skelton, gave advice for those in the industry:
“Working your way up is the best way to build a career in the industry, especially if you are in account management or strategy. Agency leaders should note that over 40% of respondents don’t rate their agencies highly for supporting their professional development. It’s become a freelance world over the last five years but there are hints that the pace of change is slowing as fewer people intend to change jobs in the coming year.”
