Report: FlexJobs Identifies Telecommuting Jobs in the 10 Worst U.S. Cities for Commutes
Boulder, CO (PRWEB) June 24, 2015 -- Telecommuting is the most in-demand type of flexible work arrangement by today’s flexible job seeker, a preference motivated largely by the time, money and stress that can be saved by eliminating a daily commute, according to a survey by FlexJobs. 76 percent of respondents reported a daily round trip commute of over an hour.
Although workers in all parts of the U.S. can suffer from taxing work commutes, according to the U.S. Census Bureau there are ten cities in particular where the daily commute proves to be the most difficult and time consuming. FlexJobs, a job service that specializes in telecommuting and other flexible jobs, has compiled a sample of telecommuting jobs currently available in each of these traffic prone cities to give an idea of the types of jobs that offer remote options in these and other cities around the country.
Below are the top 10 U.S. cities with the longest commutes for full time workers. Seven out of the ten states represented on this list are also among the top ten states with the most telecommuting job listings, with Massachusetts, Washington and Washington, D.C. not included.
For each of the cities, real, recently-posted telecommuting job titles from the FlexJobs database are included to show commuters the variety of at-home options available. Telecommuting refers to work that can be performed from home and options may include contract, employee, part-time, and full-time positions.
