Rescue Specialist Submits 9/11 Experience for Screenplay Consideration
STONY POINT, N.Y. (PRWEB) April 10, 2015 -- Author Steve Kanarian, an Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) paramedic, is pursing plans to turn his account of the September 11th terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center into a screenplay.
A Hollywood treatment of Kanarian’s “The Downwind Walk: A USAR Paramedic’s Experiences after the Terrorist Attacks on September 11, 2001” (published by AuthorHouse) is being reviewed by Thruline Entertainment for its potential as an adaptation for film and television. Kanarian will also be attending Book-to-Screen PitchFest Los Angeles 2015 for a speed pitch with representatives from a variety of agencies, studios, and management and production companies May 1-2, 2015.
“Responders are trained to go uphill and upwind to stay safe,” Kanarian explains of the unique perspective of his book. “The downwind walk is the journey rescue specialists take into harm’s way to analyze the damage and hazards to begin the rescue effort.”
Through the eyes of a USAR paramedic who went into harm’s way to rescue victims, Kanarian takes readers through the events, sights, smells and vivid memories of his unforgettable experience being eye-level at Ground Zero. This firsthand and behind-the scenes account records Kanarian’s own experiences and those of other EMTs and paramedics, including some who were wounded and traumatized, and others who made the “ultimate sacrifice.”
