Retractable WING Yacht Stabilizer from RotorSwing Marine
(PRWEB) December 01, 2015 -- RotorSwing Marine just invented a new yacht stabilizer that not only offers roll damping, but also controls pitch damping, trim and yaw control. The WING yacht stabilizer was recently introduced at the METS boat show in Amsterdam with expected delivery date early to mid 2016
RotorSwing Marine has become famous for the invention of the Magnus Effect roll damping systems for yachts. Now, with this WING yacht stabilizer, the company expects many yacht owners to switch to this product.
With the absence of waves, or while docking the yacht, the WING yacht stabilizer fins are retracted against the hull to eliminate drag and prevent damage to the yacht stabilizers. While cruising, the yacht Stabilizer fins rotate perpendicular to the hull, while swiveling over their own axis to generate a remarkable 95% roll damping.
Since these new WING yacht stabilizer fins are also installed horizontally, in contrast to standard yacht stabilizer fins, which are traditionally more diagonally oriented, much higher lift forces are being generated. The retractable WING yacht stabilizer not only offers roll damping, but also performs extremely well for pitch damping and yaw control. Yaw control is being utilized while fighting a following sea. Finally, the system can be activated to function as trim tabs which improves planing and fuel consumption.
While most stabilizers for yachts utilize low aspect ratio fins (height versus width), the WING yacht stabilizer is a high aspect ratio fin, similar to the wings of a commercial airplane. The main advantages of this new product are to create extremely low drag force, high lift force, being retractable and offer wide functionality.
Another unique feature of this RotorSwing Marine product, which has enabled them to dominate the market, is the ability to also provide roll damping while at anchor or adrift. RotorSwing calls this "ZeroSpeed", and this function is instrumental in making boating enjoyable again. High amplitude waves from speedboats and commercial crafts can make anchorage most unpleasant. The ZeroSpeed roll damping function automatically counters these large waves and does so without any noise.
The owners of yachts between 12 and 40 meters (40 – 130 feet) will benefit from this patented 3-axis stabilization, that only this yacht stabilizer provides. As an added benefit, the WING yacht stabilizer offers dynamic positioning (DP) and emergency propulsion (EP), in the event of engine failure.
