Retro Athletic Compression Socks Energize Race for the Cure Runners
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) September 09, 2014 -- The annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K arrives in Balboa Park on November 2nd, and San Diego-based Sugar Free Sox is partnering with Susan G. Komen San Diego as an official, local sponsor for this year’s Race for the Cure event.
The sponsorship is part of the rollout of the most recent Sugar Free Sox product, a new line of athletic compression socks featuring retro-pink tube sock striping in honor of Susan G. Komen San Diego’s fight against breast cancer.
A San Diego-based, small business innovator in compression and non-binding socks that enhance circulation and comfort, Sugar Free Sox will donate 50 percent of each sale of their new retro-pink line to the Susan G. Komen San Diego through race day on November 2nd.
Sugar Free Sox President Gary Meade says making the decision to support Susan G. Komen San Diego was an easy one.
“My aunt had a double mastectomy, so like many participants in the Race for the Cure I’ve witnessed the devastating effect breast cancer can have on a loved one firsthand,” says Meade. “I’m glad to be able to contribute to Komen San Diego. Their assistance to the uninsured helps a significant amount of women right here in San Diego.”
In addition to supporting fun and hip pink stripes, race participants using the new Sugar Free athletic compression socks will be able to enjoy a few practical advantages. The knee-high socks are woven with high-tech polyester fibers that release body heat, and the socks are designed with a foot cushion bed with a seamless toe. The light compression sock is easy to put on, and comfortable for all-day wear.
Compression socks are helpful in the recovery of leg muscles following lengthy workouts or endurance-style runs and walks, and assist in post-activity recovery by reducing leg aches.

According to Susan G. Komen San Diego, 75 percent of funds raised from the 5K (3.1 mile) Race for the Cure event specifically stays in San Diego.
