On Wednesday, August 17, 2016, expert speaker Sue Dill Calloway, RN, MSN, JD, will present a Live Webinar titled “2016 Revised Hospital CoP Dietary, CAH Dietary, DNV Healthcare & TJC Standards” covering the CMS hospital conditions of participation requirements for dietary, food and nutrition services.
Last year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) made three major changes to the dietary guidelines for hospitals and CAH. According to the new rules, CMS will now allow the Medical Staff and Board to credential and privilege qualified dieticians and nutritional specialists to order the patient’s diet—therapeutic diet, supplemental feeding and enteral nutrition, etc. Plus, the CMS has also shared additional information about the C&P process for dieticians.
The hospital CoP requirements for dietary, food and nutrition services are an important part of the CMS survey, and have received increased scrutiny of their standards in the area of infection control. This 90-minute webinar will also focus on the Joint Commission (TJC) provision of care chapter standards related to dietary and the TJC dietary tracer information. The tracer is used to assess and determine the degree of compliance with standards and elements of performance related to nutrition care. The tracer used through dietetic and food services covers some of the same issues discussed during the CMS survey. Recently, the CMS has issued a deficiency report in this area and this session will also cover that topic in this session.
