RFID Institute Announces Name Change
Reston, Virginia (PRWEB) March 04, 2015 -- The International RFID Institute, a not-for profit organization founded to promote professionalism in the RFID industry through standardized certification exams, announced today that it has formally changed its name to the RFID Professional Institute (http://www.rfidpros.org). The name change reflects the organization's mission to promote professionalism in the radio frequency identification (RFID) industry through standardized certification exams.
"A group of hardworking, dedicated professionals have been devoting what little spare time they have to advancing professionalism in the RFID industry through standardized certification exams," said Mark Roberti, the organization's chairman. "We feel the new name better reflects our core mission and a broader scope, which will include advancing professionalism in a variety of ways."
The RFID Professional Institute was founded in 2012 as a nonprofit organization registered in the state of Virginia. It held its first beta exam at RFID Journal LIVE! 2014 and another at RFID Journal LIVE! Europe. Exam questions have been refined to ensure that the associate-level certification accurately reflects the exam taker's knowledge of RFID terms and concepts. The aim of the associate-level certification is to show that those who have passed have demonstrated a broad knowledge of all types of radio frequency identification, system components and applications.
“We expect to formally launch our first certification program next month, with securely proctored online exams,” said Ian Robertson, the RFID Professional Institute's vice chairman. “And we are putting systems in place to be able to offer proctored exams at upcoming RFID events.”
