RFID Professional Institute Elects New Officers
(PRWEB) December 11, 2015 -- The RFID Professional Institute, a non-profit organization set up in 2012 by a group of industry professionals to develop standardized RFID certification exams, has elected Ian Robertson, an RFID industry veteran who led RFID efforts at Hewlett-Packard, as its new chairman. Robertson replaces Mark Roberti, who served for chairman for two years and will assume the role of vice-chairman.
The board of directors also elected the following individuals to officer roles:
President: Dr. Bill Hardgrave, Dean and Wells Fargo Professor, Harbert College of Business, Auburn University
Treasurer: Mike Liard, industry veteran and independent consultant
Secretary: Leslie Downey, principal, RFID Revolution
The RFID Professional Institute has been working for the past three years to develop its first certification exam. With the exam now complete, the Institute enters a new phase in which it will begin to promote the exam and the value of certification.
“Whenever you have an all-volunteer organization, it is a challenge to get things done, but through the extraordinary efforts of our volunteers, we now have a strong exam and a means to deliver it remotely online,” Robertson said. “Our focus now will be on promoting certification throughout the RFID industry and developing additional exams.”
The Institute has partnered with InstructedU to deliver the exam. Through InstructedU’s partnership with ProctorU, those in the RFID industry will be able to take the exam online via a remote proctor. This ensures the credibility of the exam, while making it available globally.
