Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for New Community Center Held at St. Elizabeth Catholic Academy
Ozone Park, NY (PRWEB) November 20, 2014 -- St. Elizabeth Catholic Academy, a private Catholic school that specializes in educating students from pre-kindergarten through the eighth grade, recently announced that it conducted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil a new community center for families of the school. The school’s principal, teachers, students, and alumni joined leaders and volunteers of the Advanced Ed. Leadership Program ALP Team7 to perform the ceremony at the school’s location in Ozone Park, Queens on Saturday, November 8th, 2014 at 6 p.m.
For over 20 years, the students of St. Elizabeth’s attended an afterschool program in a huge and beautiful space. However, the building has become old and dated—it is now 101 years old. Advanced Education Leadership Program Team 7 wanted to present the students with a warm and vibrant place to have their afterschool program, so the group decided to improve the setting by painting a beautiful mural; creating a reading corner, music center, and study area; replacing tables and chairs; adding plants to the windows; installing a projector and screen; repainting the walls; and restoring the basement bowling alley, originally built in 1921. The renovated community center will also be used to host community members and alumni events.
“St. Elizabeth Catholic Academy Legacy Project is another example of what individuals who come together in a community are able to accomplish because of their dedication, team work, and love for their children and their community,” stated Michael Englese, a St. Elizabeth Alumni and ALP Team 7 volunteer.
