Rich’s Carpet One Raises Money to Benefit Injured American Heroes
(PRWEB) September 22, 2015 -- HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J., Sept. 22, 2015 — Rich’s Carpet One has partnered with the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation to raise money to build homes for catastrophically injured American service members and first responders.
The money raised by Rich’s employees and customers will be donated to the foundation’s Building for America’s Bravest program, which provides custom-designed smart houses to injured heroes, allowing them to live more independently and enhancing their quality of life. The fundraising campaign culminates with its annual 5K run and walk in New York City on Sept. 27. Owner Rich Linnell and his employees aim to raise at least $2,500 for the program. Linnell will match every donation dollar-for-dollar through the end of the campaign.
“We’re proud to be able to give back to those individuals who truly are America’s bravest heroes,” said Linnell. “These service members and first responders have made incredible sacrifices to protect the lives and freedom of the American people. There’s nothing we can do to truly show them our gratitude, but this program is one small way we can give back in their honor.”
Rich’s Carpet One has a history of involvement with the foundation and its Building for America’s Bravest campaign. Last year, Linnell again raised money and participated in the foundation's 5K run, and this year he will be donating installation services for all the foundation’s smart homes built in Mercer County. On a national level, Carpet One has committed to installing flooring in every home built by the foundation through 2016.
The foundation was created in honor of Stephen Siller, a young FDNY firefighter who gave up his life in the 2001 terrorist attacks in New York City. Siller ran from the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel to the World Trade Center carrying 60 pounds of gear on his back after the first plane struck the tower. To honor the memory of Siller and the dedication of other American heroes, the foundation has completed construction on 15 homes and expects to finish 14 more this year, with another 12 in the design phase.
