Richard C. Haddocks Jr. Presents New Philosophy of Common Sense
MARIETTA, Ga. (PRWEB) November 21, 2013 -- A compilation of bullet-like phrases, “My Dad Used to Say: The Philosophy of Common Sense” (published by Trafford Publishing) is author Richard C. Haddocks Jr.’s collection of phrases commonly used by his father, with his own helpful commentary.
“Unfortunately, ‘common sense’ is not a gift of birth,” Haddocks comments. “It is a knowledge learned and developed at an early age through exposure, teaching and parental demonstration.” His periodic reflection on his father’s references to, and frustration with, behavior absent of common sense was Haddocks inspiration for this book.
“My Dad Used to Say” relates Haddocks’ father’s commonly used phrases to the basic themes of everyday life, such as being on time, not relying on others and disciplining children.
An excerpt from “My Dad Used to Say”:
“Discipline = Love… A parent’s establishment of limits and barriers is a valuable teaching tool. … When a child is made to understand there are consequences for every action, (and in some cases inaction), he/she is the beneficiary of the love of parents who want nothing more than the best for their children.”
Haddocks’ book “addresses a common sense void,” as he calls it “, in a world where ‘common sense’ practices are either ignored or defied, mostly in the interest of personal gain or ideological beliefs.” Haddocks' common sense examples will speak to readers interested in understanding and applying a common sense philosophy.
