Richard S. Eisenstaedt, MD, FACP Honored with Laureate Award by the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American College of Physicians
Abington, PA (PRWEB) April 09, 2014 -- The Laureate is the highest honor offered by the ACP and is presented to Fellows and Masters of the College who lead by example and conduct an abiding commitment to excellence in medical care, education, research, service to their community, their chapter and the ACP.
Eisenstaedt is a past board member of the National Board of Medical Examiners and a recipient of the Edithe J. Levitt award for his longstanding distinguished service to the goals of that organization. Richard is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a past member of the In-training Examination Steering Committee. He continues to serve as associate editor of MKSAP (Medical Knowledge and Self Assessment Program) and is the ACP representative to the COLA (Council on Laboratory Accreditation) Board of Directors.
As chair at Abington Memorial Hospital since 2005, he continues his career interest in the development and evaluation of innovative medical education while serving as a primary care internist with both a hospitalist and an ambulatory care practice. He has assumed a leadership role promoting multi-disciplinary safety programs ranging from the rapid response team to surviving sepsis to acute infarct angioplasty.
Born and raised on the northwest side of Chicago, Dr. Eisenstaedt received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from the University of Illinois. He completed a medicine residency and a fellowship in hematology at the Tufts-New England Medical Center and served as chief medical resident at that institution. Dr. Eisenstaedt is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certifications in hematology and medical oncology.
He began his academic career at Temple University in hematology and transfusion medicine, but felt general internal medicine a far better fit for his clinical, educational and research interests. For the past 20 years, he has been a primary care provider and clinician educator, working in both hospital-based and ambulatory environments.
