RISC Networks CloudScape provides customers with automated IT estate discovery, dependency mapping and migration planning so they can efficiently migrate to VMware Cloud on AWS

RISC Networks, a leading provider of IT discovery and analytics, today announced CloudScape is available to customers of VMware Cloud™ on AWS. Launched today with initial availability in AWS US West (Oregon) region, VMware Cloud on AWS brings together VMware’s enterprise-class Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) software and elastic, bare-metal infrastructure from Amazon Web Services (AWS) to give organizations consistent operating model and application mobility for private and public cloud. CloudScape provides the ability to quickly create application-centric migration plans to customers of VMware Cloud on AWS.

CloudScape can be utilized by service integrators, managed service providers, value added resellers and direct clients to:

  •     Quickly discover in-scope workloads without deploying agents to IT assets
  •     Automatically group applications into related stacks
  •     Evaluate the difficulty of migration
  •     Evaluate the cost of migrating all or selected workloads to the cloud
  •     Compare costs against other public cloud offerings
  •     Utilize Cloud Endure, CloudVelox or other migration tools to migrate to VMware Cloud on AWS

“Over the past 10 years, we have completed over 11,000 assessments. From this experience, and our work with some of the largest companies in the world, we have built a platform that provides a complete view of one’s IT estate and at the same time offers the ability to drill down into the details that can make or break an IT project,” said Jeremy Littlejohn, CEO of RISC Networks. “CloudScape serves as an IT answer engine for projects such as cloud migration, security planning, disaster recovery planning, LAN/WAN segmentation planning and much more.”

VMware Cloud on AWS technology partners enable customers to deploy the same proven solutions seamlessly in both the public and private cloud. VMware simplifies deployment and eliminates the need for partners to refactor solutions for VMware Cloud on AWS. If a partner solution works on-premises in a VMware vSphere® environment, it will easily support VMware Cloud on AWS. VMware technology partners complement and enhance native VMware Cloud on AWS service and enable customers to realize new capabilities.

“VMware Cloud on AWS provides customers a seamlessly integrated hybrid cloud offering that gives customers the SDDC experience from the leader in private cloud, running on the leading public cloud provider, AWS,” said Mark Lohmeyer, vice president, products, Cloud Platforms Business Unit, VMware. “Solutions such as CloudScape enable IT teams to reduce cost, increase efficiency, and create operational consistency across cloud environments. We’re excited to work with partners such as RISC Networks to enhance native VMware Cloud on AWS capabilities and empower customers with flexibility and choice in solutions that can drive business value.”
