RNR Custom Wheel and Tires Franchise Owners Teams Up With Local Disc Jockey to Support Children in Back to School Promotion
Norfolk, VA (PRWEB) September 15, 2016 -- RNR Virginia has been reading to the children at James Monroe Elementary as part of their literacy program and this year they partnered with WVKL 95.7 R&Bs and Theressa Brown, #1 DJ on the #1 station in the market, as part of the Reading and Succeeding With Theressa school supply giveaway program.
RNR provided over 200 backpacks filled with school supplies as part of the program and provided extra items like crayons, pencils, glue sticks, colored pencils, composition notebooks and other supplies that children were lacking for the first day of school. “The school has had some academic challenges and we want to do our small part in helping the teachers improve reading skills that will show up in test scores. Making sure they have the necessary school supplies helps ensure the kids get off to a good start,” said Ron Russell, Owner/Operator of RNR Virginia. “Collaborating with Theressa and WVKL 95.7 is a Godsend for these kids. She is truly a special individual and we are happy to do our part in providing reading instruction for the kids.”
RNR has officially adopted James Monroe Elementary School. Russell and Brown have planned a big kickoff pep rally with Pepsi and Pizza Hut in October and have a goal to help make reading fun for the kids and to provide leadership to help kids read 10 books in the 2016-17 school year.
