Robert Morris University Illinois Teams Up with Coprodeli In Marketing Project
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) October 20, 2015 -- Students at Robert Morris University Illinois have the opportunity to gain experience through internships and projects that promote experiential learning and the application of concepts learned in the classroom. When the University established the ICenter, a hub for students to work on business projects for real clients in the Chicago area, several local businesses and organizations looked to RMU for assistance.
The result has been a win-win situation for businesses and students. The companies present their business needs or dilemmas and students create responses and solutions – all at no cost to the companies. Each quarter, more organizations use the ICenter to work with students, and the next quarter at RMU begins December 7, 2015
Many non-profit organizations have found working through the ICenter to be a viable answer to building up or promoting their efforts. One such organization is called Coprodeli, a non-profit with offices in Chicago, which works to develop services and programs for the underprivileged in Peru.
This past summer, Coprodeli initiated an ICenter project with RMU students to remedy and enhance the function of their database. They also needed assistance in marketing a virtual reality event they had in September with Chicago’s TOMS shoe store in Wicker Park.
RMU computer studies students took on the database project and completed it by the end of the summer. Then, art and design students helped create brochures and invitations for the TOMS shoe store event.
Deanna Ho, RMU’s dean of External Experiences, who oversees the ICenter, and Betty O’Leary, director of Corporate Relations, were both involved in working with Coprodeli. Both students and staff from Coprodeli were excited with the results, and many participated in the virtual reality event at TOMS. “This night was very special for all involved,” commented Deanna Ho. “It demonstrated all of the work the students have put in over the last couple quarters to all who attended. It not only enhanced their learning experience, but we all came to know and appreciate what a great cause can be found in the efforts of Coprodeli.”
