Robert Weaver Served As an Expert Panelist at the National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA) Mid-Year Conference & Expo
Quapaw, Oklahoma (PRWEB) September 27, 2016 -- Robert Weaver served as an expert panelist at the National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA) Mid-Year Conference & Expo event, at the request of Ernie Stevens Jr., the chairman and national spokesperson for NIGA. The September 12-14 event took place at the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino. According to a press release issued by NIGA, the panel was "comprised of representatives throughout Indian country who have worked in the sector to be visionaries of gaming success.” Members of the panel were chosen, in part, because of their ability to achieve great successes within tribal communities while skillfully fostering positive relations with the public.
Weaver, a National Indian Health Board award winner, served as an expert witness on the “Effectively Telling Your Indian Gaming Success Story” panel, due to his extensive knowledge of the Affordable Care Act and its effects on Indian country. Other members of the panel included Kip Ritchie, president of Greenfire Management Services, LLC, Jana McKeag, president of Lowry Strategies and Margo Gray, president of Margo Gray & Associates. Jim Klas, co-founder and principal at KlasRobinson Q.E.D. served as the moderator.
When asked about his contributions to gaming success, Weaver, a member of the Quapaw Tribe of Oklahoma, said, "Chairman Berrey and the rest of the business committee of the Quapaw Tribe made a huge investment in our people when they decided to start a universal health plan which covers health, dental, vision and has an end of life expense plan for all tribal members no matter what area of the country they live using some of our gaming revenues. This was started in 2011 and is literally changing the health and lives of the Quapaw people. I am very proud to be a part of this Native success story."
One of Weaver's favorite publications is a free resource offered providing informational videos for less economically developed Indian tribes and nations. These videos can be found on the Robert Weaver Quapaw Tribe Facebook page or via the YouTube Native Health and Insurance Channel.
